As an old seaman and getting older every day, I must mention that some of the terminology is quite landlubberly cute. Ships don’t “park”. They “moor” or “dock” or are “on the hook”.

Ships are almost living things. Once at sea they are operational 24/7. There is no real day or night. A ship sets sail anytime conditions permit. Sitting in port is very expensive and doesn’t make a profit for the shipowners.

Yo! Ho! Ho! and a bottle of rum!
