Today on Food on Friday’s we need to talk Turkey.
Turkish food, that is.
Yesterday was our second visit to a Turkish restaurant that’s just a few blocks from where we’re staying here in Seattle. The food is good — not the best ever, perhaps, but consistently good on a second visit, and you really can’t ask for more than that. ![]()
So, we started with a couple of appetizers. First, some lentil patties, which are served cold:
Then some grape leaves, which were interesting with an unexpectedly interesting (in a good way) flavor. The filling was rice and pine nuts, with flavors that included cardamom and cinnamon.
For our main course, we had a spinach-and-feta-cheese-stuffed filo which was very reminiscent of the same kind of food at our favorite Bulgarian restaurant in Vancouver:
Our neighborhood here in Seattle might not have quite the selection of ethnic restaurants that we found in the West End in Vancouver, but it’s still possible to find something here that is tasty and fun for a Food on Friday. ![]()
