Where on a Wednesday?

Well, it’s actually Friday here at the moment,  but the title of this post comes from the fact that on a Wednesday — this past Wednesday to be precise — we flew to a different country.  We’re now in Auckland, New Zealand, where it’s 17 hours ahead of the eastern U.S. at the moment. You can do the math for your own time zone accordingly.

Now, we flew to Auckland from Melbourne, Australia. And I know, I know, I never did blog about Melbourne while we were there.  I think Melbourne slipped through the cracks because although it was a nice place, there was no particular “postcard shot” I found to share, and I never did get around to blogging about anything else.  Ah well.  I do have a few photos of things here and there in Melbourne which I need to organize at some point.

But in any case, we’re in Auckland now, on the last leg of our “down under” trip. We head back to California on Sunday.  So, before we leave here without my managing to mentioning it, here are a couple of quick shots from Auckland:

1. The iconic Sky Tower, seen lit up at night from our hotel window:

2. The Sky Tower seen during the day. The crazy angle was used to cut out all the construction work in the road at the corner where we were standing. BTW, just as I went to take the photo, but before I could actually take the photo, we heard someone scream in delight as they bungee-jumped off the tower.  Seriously. Unfortunately (?), I snapped the photo just a moment too late to record that jump in this photo:

3. The Auckland skyline, viewed from a ferry in the harbour; note the Sky Tower in the center.

As I said, we’re here until late Sunday afternoon, when we fly back to San Francisco. After a 12 hour flight, we arrive back in San Francisco late … Sunday morning. It’s a time zone thing. Don’t try to figure it out. Instead, just enjoy the view of Auckland in that last photo. ;-)
