Following up on my post about A Room Near a View, I thought I’d share a few photos today from the top of that hill I talked about in that post. 

It’s really not all that high, but when seen from our side of the Adige, it at least looks like a long ways up.

But Chris and I made it to the top the other day. In the following annotated detail version of that photo, I’ve marked the spot where I stood to take the photos which follow (as with all the photos, click to view these in a larger size):

Sweep Panorama, Verona

That sweep panorama feature on my cell phone camera works pretty well for regular panoramas most of the time, as long as I can get into a good position and slowly sweep the camera from one side to the other. However, before I took the above panorama, I had a little trouble. I wanted to stand in a particular corner spot on the hillside to get that overall view. However, for a long while there was a young woman who had positioned herself just exactly blocking my desired shot. The woman was sitting on the edge of the wall, with her feet stretched out in front of her as she repeated bopped her big toe with a blue balloon. She wasn’t looking at the view, just bopping her toe with the balloon. Hmph.

So after waiting (impatiently) for her to stop/move/leave, I then tried to take a panorama in spite of her by sweeping up and around her. Which actually had an interesting effect, as it shows an unlikely view of the  Santa Anastasia Church’s bell tower:

It almost looks like it’s swaying, since typically that kind of ghostly duplication would be do to movement. But it was really only my movement that caused this – I guess I should thank that woman with her blue balloon after all.
