Our trip from Vigo to Lisbon was uneventful, and we arrived without any problems this afternoon. On the first train, we incorrectly assumed that the sign for the route from Vigo to Porto on the inside of the train car was an indication that we were on the right train. However, although we were indeed on the correct train, the sign in the car turned out NOT to be the sign for the route our train actually took between the same two places. Ah well. At least it was the right train!
On the second train, which was a a Portuguese train from Porto to Lisbon, we had paid to upgrade to first class seats, as it was just a few dollars more. As a result, our ride turned out unexpectedly to be one of the most comfortable of all the trains we’ve taken in recent memory. Upgrading to first class on European trains hasn’t always worked out that way, though, so it was quite a pleasant surprise.
So we’re in Lisbon until next Friday. Internet in our vacation apartment is (predictably, at this point) rather spotty, so I will see if I can manage to get some photos and stories posted during the next week. We’ll see how it goes.

This is one of the most interesting websites that you have shown in your travels. For one thing, they had a lot of webcams and they automatically went from one to another. Then in their photo section, they offered a number of scenic pictures. I liked the two castles I saw–one with red towers and another in the middle of water. I didn’t see too many churches–one basilica and one twin towers. Finally, and best, was that it reminded me of San Francisco with the hills, the bay and the bridge!
